Description:
In 2010 the children of Gaza set out to break the Guinness World Record for the most kites flown simultaneously, in a momentous event coordinated by UNRWA. Launching over 7,500 kites from the beaches of Gaza, they aspired to prove that when given the chance, they could be the best in the world.

In this heartfelt documentary, filmmakers, Nitin Sawhney and Roger Hill, went behind the scenes to capture the lives of some of these children and the fascinating culture of making and flying kites in Gaza despite
the siege. Many children and youth in Gaza participated in the making of the film over the past 2 years, as part of digital storytelling workshops conducted by the filmmakers in the Jabalia refugee camp, to express their own stories of creative resilience under Occupation.

The feature-length film is expected to be released by early next year, while the filmmakers continue post-production and fundraising for the project. Please join us for a preview screening of a newly edited rough-cut of the film (in Arabic with English subtitles) and a Q&A with the filmmakers and UNRWA representative, Matt Reynolds.
