Women in Saudi Arabia rejoiced recently when they received the right to drive. Another barrier fell last October when it was announced that women may now attend certain soccer matches. The new privilege begins next week. Three stadiums where the Saudi Professional League plays – in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam – are the venues where women can attend before additional sites are added to the list but only after an evaluation of the success or failure of the initial plan is completed. Participating stadiums will have three sections of seating: men-only, family and women.
