 \n\nDEARBORN\, MICHIGAN\n\nThis current Fastathon is UMD-MSA’s 11th annu
 al event. We highly encourage everyone to attend and support us\, as profi
 ts for our entire banquet and gathering will be donated to support our bro
 thers and sisters suffering in Gaza.\n\nThis event is in collaboration wit
 h the Muslim Youth Islamic Center of Detroit (MY-ICD)\, the Baitulmaal cha
 rity organization\, and the Al-Maghrib Institute.\n\nWhat is Fast-a-thon?\
 n\nThe concept of the Fast-a-thon comes from decades of MSA tradition. The
  Muslim Students Association (MSA) is a student-run organization on campus
  dedicated to bridging the gap between the Muslim and non-Muslim populatio
 ns on the University of Michigan - Dearborn campus and in the community. T
 his event is an example of uniting all types of individuals for a philanth
 ropic cause. The reward that comes from the Fast-a-Thon is two-fold. Not o
 nly have you sacrificed for the sake of those less fortunate\, but you wil
 l also be gaining a sense of self-fulfillment by fasting. Because the Isla
 mic concept of fasting requires refraining from consuming food and drink f
 rom sunrise to sunset\, the MSA has adopted this notion for the Fast-a-tho
 n cause.\n\nThe Impact\n\nNot only will you be taking part in one of the b
 iggest events on the UM-Dearborn campus\, but you will be directly making 
 an impact on fighting hunger. Last year\, the MSA was able to raise over $
 11\,000 for charity! As a remake of our classic Fast-a-thon program\, Fast
 -a-thon has the following goals:\n\n 	Emphasize the urgency of hunger issu
 es around the world\, specifically in the Detroit metro area\n 	Actively c
 ombat hunger by raising money for local\, regional\, and international cha
 rities addressing hunger issues\n 	100% of the proceeds from the event wil
 l go to Biatulmaal's Palestine Aid\n\nBiatulmaal's Palestine Aid\n\n 	Prov
 ide food assistance\n 	Refill clean water tanks\n 	Give meat and other sea
 sonal aid\n 	Other aid as needed\n\nThe rampant violence persists\, destro
 ying homes and claiming the lives of innocent civilians. This grim reality
  leaves children grieving for family\, shelter\, and essential support.
