The Muslim Students A ssociation (MSA) is a student-run organization on campus dedicated to brid ging the gap between the Muslim and non-Muslim populations on the Universi ty of Michigan - Dearborn campus and in the community. This event is an ex ample of uniting all types of individuals for a philanthropic cause. The r eward that comes from the Fast-a-Thon is two-fold. Not only have you sacri ficed for the sake of those less fortunate\, but you will also be gaining a sense of self-fulfillment by fasting. Because the Islamic concept of fas ting requires refraining from consuming food and drink from sunrise to sun set\, the MSA has adopted this notion for the Fast-a-thon cause.\n\nThe Im pact\n\nNot only will you be taking part in one of the biggest events on t he UM-Dearborn campus\, but you will be directly making an impact on fight ing hunger. Last year\, the MSA was able to raise over $11\,000 for charit y! As a remake of our classic Fast-a-thon program\, Fast-a-thon has the fo llowing goals:\n\n Emphasize the urgency of hunger issues around the worl d\, specifically in the Detroit metro area\n Actively combat hunger by ra ising money for local\, regional\, and international charities addressing hunger issues\n 100% of the proceeds from the event will go to Human Conc ern International's Palestine Relief\n\nHuman Concern International (HCI)' s Palestine Relief Three Phase Plan\n\n Emergency Relief provides basic n ecessities and healthcare\;\n Early Recovery focuses on rebuilding perman ent housing and supporting education\;\n Community Development involves r estoring health systems\, providing psychosocial support\, and rebuilding infrastructure and social systems.\n\nWays You Can Help\n\nMake a pledge!
