DC Palestinian Film and Arts Festival
– The DC Palestinian Film and Arts Festival (DCPFAF) is returning for the sixth year, October 5-9, 2016, bringing 33 films, five talks, and one mind-blowing visual exhibit to the District. See the program at dcpfaf.org/program
This year’s festival, Palestine Across the Diaspora: Stories on Home and Migration, explores ideas of home across a diaspora as diverse as it vast. Migration, attachment to place, and homemaking are themes common to diaspora communities around the world, including ones found in Washington, DC.
In cooperation with Shared Studios, #DCPFAF16 will center around an immersive architectural exhibit tracing the architectural history of Palestine, and featuring a virtual pop-up portal connecting visitors with Palestinians across the diaspora. The portal at the District Architecture Center will connect DC festival goers with Gaza, New York City, and Milwaukee. In addition to feature performances by Palestinian artists in those three cities at 12 pm each day of the festival (tickets required), festival goers can engage in casual conversation with Palestinians in those locations.
