Meet prize-winning playwright Mona Mansour and enjoy selections of her works during this celebration of the Kesselring Prize’s 40th year

About this Event

Join The National Arts Club in celebrating the work of this year’s Kesselring Prize-winning playwright Mona Mansour, best known for her works including The Vagrant Trilogy (consisting of three plays set in the Middle East and the United Kingdom, spanning five decades of the life of a Palestinian man and his family) and We Swim, We Talk, We Go to War. The evening includes scenes from these and other works and Mansour’s commentary of how her writing speaks to many of the cultural issues in the world today. Readers include Tala Ashe, Nadia Bowers, Deirdre O’Connell, Joshua Chessin-Yudin, Sarah Nina Hayon, Nadine Malouf, Corey Stoll, and Hadi Tabbal.

The Kesselring Prize for Playwriting was established in 1980 by Club member Charlotte Kesselring—widow of noted playwright and Club member Joseph Kesselring—to honor and support as yet not nationally recognized playwrights with an honorarium and indirect support towards development of their work. Among its past recipients are Lucas Hnath, Tony Kushner, Nicky Silver, and Anna Deavere Smith—and most recently Inda Craig-Galvàn, Lauren Yee, James Ijames, and Lindsey Ferrentino.
