About this Event
Moderated by Dr. Sarah Graff, Associate Curator of Ancient Near Eastern Art at the Met, and joined by George Batah, Chair and Co-Founder of Ard Diyar, the event begin with a short introduction to the Levantine gastronomical landscape of the past highlighting some interesting facts showcased through a selection of ancient objects in the Met’s collection.
Then, we will take a walk down memory lane and facilitate a fun and informal conversation for participants to share with the group a reminiscence of their favorite childhood food.
New to the Ard Diyar community? Here is a little bit about us….
Ard Diyar is an initiative organized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in collaboration between the Department of Ancient Near Eastern Art, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and George Batah, Chair and Co-Founder of Ard Diyar. Our mission is to serve as an ongoing meeting place to host conversations pertinent to the cultural heritage of New Yorkers of Middle Eastern descent and/or interest, through the lens of ancient Middle Eastern art in the Met’s collection.
