DESCRIPTION:\n\nSpend the evening with calligraphy master and painter Arman
  Karimi\, crafting beautiful and unique gifts or decorations &amp\; many y
 ears to come.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHosted by the International Res
 cue Committee WA\, this Arabic calligraphy night is the first in the Art W
 ithout Borders series\, which showcases the beauty and diversity of our re
 gion's refugee community.\n\nArman Karimi\, a former IRC client\, is origi
 nally from Kabul\, Afghanistan. He creates his calligraphy with the tradit
 ional wooden pens for Islamic calligraphy. Arabic calligraphy has a 2000-y
 ear old history that is as rich and complex as "qahwa" قهوة (Arabic co
 ffee).\n\nThis workshop is for anyone looking to craft a beautiful and uni
 que gift for a loved one or a decoration for the home\, learn the history 
 of this significant art form\, and enjoy a warm and cozy evening creating 
 art together.\n\nThe cost of the ticket includes: Instruction with Arman a
 nd everything you need to create a beautiful piece of art: canvas and call
 igraphy ink\, mounting Ebru paper\, and traditional bamboo calligraphy pen
 s. There will be light refreshments provided.\n\nProceeds from this event 
 go towards paying our artist and covering supplies and to help raise funds
  for our Welcome Home campaign\, serving newly arrived refugees and asylum
