About this Event
On the sixth episode of ‘Arts Canteen in Conversation’, Aser El Saqqa talks to Dana Dajani (@danadajani.poetry), award-winning Palestinian writer, performer and activist. During the past decade, Dana has taken on many roles as an actress, writer, trainer and consultant within the corporate and creative worlds.
She has deep roots in the UAE where she was honoured as Emirates Woman Artist of the Year and received the Young Arab Award for Entertainment in 2016.
Since 2018, Dana has been invited to share her work in cities across the UK – opening for Cairokee on tour in Birmingham, Liverpool and London. In 2019, she was the Artist in Residence at the Liverpool Arab Arts festival, offering a mix of poetry and theatre performances, as well as a series of sold out writing workshops.
As a poet, Dana uses her theatrical background to bring her spoken word to life with animated flair. She gained further acclaim for her activism for Palestine through artistic work, including her spoken-word poem ‘Love Letters from Palestine’.
‘Arts Canteen in Conversation’ is a series with a simple mission: to bring inspiring stories, in-depth conversations and insights from the greatest cultural figures in our community into life.
Led by Arts Canteen Founder and Managing Director Aser El Saqqa, the conversations focus on the global contemporary art scene with guests including local and international artists, gallerists, curators, architects, film makers, musicians, critics and many more.
