 o its historic transition.\n\nOne year ago\, the Assad regime in Syria cam
 e to a sudden and dramatic end\, as opposition fighters advanced south fro
 m Aleppo into Damascus in a matter of days. As a long time global pariah\,
  Syria’s re-entry into the international community has developed at rapi
 d speed\, with transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa addressing the UN Ge
 neral Assembly in September and visiting the White House in November.\n\nW
 hile Syria’s foreign policy successes have been clear\, the challenges a
 t home remain large and complex. From issues of sovereignty\, security and
  political representation\, to transitional justice\, economic recovery an
 d reconstruction\, Syria has a long road ahead.\n\nThis event will be held
  at the Middle East Institute's Headquarters\, located at 1763 N St NW\, W
