In this 3-week series, students will learn a fragment (approx. 3 minutes or as much as we can cover) of Seyyide’s 2021 belly dance choreography to the beautiful song “Sawwah”. We will cover and drill the technique necessary but go beyond that, to focus on the transitions, musicality, expression, moving around the floor and memorizing the whole sequence to make it into a full dance. A minimum of a year previous experienced much preferred and suitable for advanced students and pro/semipro dancers who continue working in their development.
All ages and body types welcome.
The three sessions will happen as follows:
- Friday 1/14/2022
- Friday 1/21/2022
- Friday 1/28/2022
Time: 8:45pm to 9:45pm
Please, arrive on time. The doors will be closed, so people will be let in only between 8:45 and 8:50pm.
Must sign for the whole 3-class series. No drop ins available.
IMPORTANT NOTES DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC
We appreciate to keep ourselves and all students as safe as possible.
- You will be asked to copy of your certification of COVID vaccination once before the event starts — unless you already attended and submitted this in September.
- Capacity will be kept at a maximum of 20 students to allow reasonable distancing to minimize any possible transmission.
- Masks will be required: Face coverings will be required following the mask mandate for the City of Cambridge.
https://www.cambridgema.gov/covid19/News/2021/08/emergencyorderrequiringuseoffacemasksinindoorpublicplaceseffectiveseptember3
and the State of Massachusetts mask mandate for K-12 schools https://www.doe.mass.edu/covid19/
We will frequently review any policy changes made by City and State and adjust accordingly with the goal of keeping all students, renters, faculty and staff safe.
Students are encouraged to maintain basic hygiene, including hand washing as necessary.
Note about parking: The parking lot in the premises is no longer available for studio personnel or visitors. You can find parking on the street (metered spots available in all surrounding streets). The studio is also very accessible by public transportation (buses and the red line bring you nearby).
