 en's initiative is pleased to host former Wall Street Journal journalist L
 eslie T. Chang for a discussion about her new book\, Egyptian Made: Women
 \, Work\, and the Promise of Liberation.\n\nOver the course of two years\,
  Chang followed three Egyptian women who work in the textile and garment m
 anufacturing industry. Through their lives and her own experience living i
 n Egypt after the 2011 Arab Uprisings\, Chang probes the risks and prejudi
 ces women continue to face in Egypt\, the country’s reckoning with centu
 ries of political upheaval\, and the struggle with the demands of globaliz
 ation as well as economic pressures at home as Egypt’s economy faces ser
 ious challenges. Interested in the ramifications of large-scale politico-e
 conomic trends on the everyday woman\, she ultimately asks: “What happen
 s to the women who choose to work in a country struggling to reconcile a t
