Be sure to join us for the next screening in our Arab Film Series: Brooklyn Inshallah. This 2019 documentary follows Palestinian American Father Khader El-Yateem’s campaign to be the first Arab American on the New York City Council. With the support of Women’s March organizer Linda Sarsour, Father K works to alleviate the mounting fears of the diverse but marginalized Arab American community of Bay Ridge, all in the wake of President Trump’s anti-Muslim policies. Stick around after the film for a talkback with director Ahmed Mansour and a panel discussion featuring some special guests! Presented in partnership with TAKE ON HATE.
Khader El-Yateem is Palestinian American, a practicing Lutheran pastor, and, he hopes, the first Arab American on the New York City Council. Having grown up amidst conflict before emigrating to the US, Father K works to alleviate the mounting fears of the diverse but marginalized Arab American community of Bay Ridge following the 2016 presidential election. With the support of political activist Linda Sarsour, he mounts the campaign of a lifetime, taking viewers into the heart of identity politics.
The screening will be followed by a talkback with Director Ahmed Mansour as well as panel discussion with guests TBA.
