Please join us as Aaron Jakes (New School) discusses his new book Egypt’s Occupation: Colonial Economism and the Crises of Capitalism (Stanford University Press, 2020) with Khaled Fahmy (Cambridge).
Aaron Jakes is Assistant Professor of History at The New School for Social Research and Eugene Lang College, where he teaches courses on the modern Middle East and South Asia, global environmental history, and the historical geography of capitalism.
Khaled Fahmy is the Sultan Qaboos Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Cambridge. A leading historian of Egypt and commentator on contemporary matters, he is the author most recently of In Quest of Justice: Islamic Law and Forensic Medicine in Modern Egypt (University of California Press, 2018)
