About this Event
SIGRID VAN ROODE
Sigrid van Roode is a jewellery historian and archaeologist. A chance encounter with old silver jewellery in Cairo, 25 years ago, has since led her on the path of the many and rich stories jewellery has to share. Sigrid looks at jewellery as the material expression of values, customs and traditions: what can we learn about a woman by looking at her jewellery and adornment? What do changing traditions and styles tell us about identity, history and cultural contacts? Sigrid considers jewellery to be a valuable historical source, documented in silver.
She frequently writes articles and blogs and is the author of several books, the most recent of which is her new book Silver & Frankincense.
