 plores the shared epistemologies\, divergences\, and entangled histories o
 f Arab and African thought on media and culture. In alignment with the 202
 5 ICA theme—Disrupting and Consolidating Communication Research—this g
 athering foregrounds scholarship from the Global South to reimagine the fu
 ture of media and communication studies.\n\nRather than positioning Arab a
 nd African scholarship in isolation or in contrast to Western thought\, th
 e preconference focuses on longstanding traditions of exchange and zones o
 f intellectual\, cultural\, and political transaction—stretching from Ti
 mbuktu to Baghdad\, Fez to the Sahara. It seeks to highlight theoretical a
 pproaches and lived cosmologies that resist compartmentalization and offer
  rich alternatives for global media theorizing.\n\nFramed around three key
 words—Exchange\, Experiment\, and Excess—the day’s sessions invite
  generative conversations on openness\, creative methodologies\, and epist
 emic possibilities that spill beyond disciplinary boundaries.
