Dubbed the “Jon Stewart of the Arab World,” political satirist Bassem Youssef created the first political satire show in the Middle East, Al Bernameg (The Show), which quickly became the most watched show across the region with 30 million viewers each week. Named one of The 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time, the cardiothoracic surgeon-turned-TV-personality riffs on propaganda, politics and the media (his guiding belief: that “satire brings awareness and breaks down taboos”) both in the Middle East and in his adopted home of America. He shares his unique perspective and his biting wit at the San Jose Improv.
