Join Assistant Director of Academic Engagement and Assistant Research Curator at the Harvard Art Museums Jen Thum for an exploration of Egyptian artifacts that speak to our present moment.

Learn the history and significance of ancient artifacts, bring an Egyptian perspective into dialogue with your own, and make contemporary connections to objects that reveal themes of family, memory, fear, and healing. Together, we’ll learn something new about Egyptian healing practices, the protection of the body in life and death, and the importance of remembering loved ones through interactive extended looking with objects you might otherwise look past in a gallery. Thum encourages us to make personal connections to artifacts and brings the past into modern times. You may even relate to the ancient Egyptians on a new level after understanding the parallels in the many ways we seek cures and comfort in moments of crisis today.

This class will be recorded for later viewing by patrons.
