DESCRIPTION:ONLINE/CHICAGO\, IL\n\nOmar Haramy\, an Arab Palestinian Christ
 ian\, is Director of Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Center in Jerusalem. Sab
 eel is a thirty-year-old organization dedicated to the Palestinian liberat
 ion theology of justice and active nonviolence\; it stands with the oppres
 sed\, works for a just peace\, and engages in peacebuilding in the midst o
 f decades of occupation and land confiscation. Haramy works for a more jus
 t future where Muslims\, Jews\, Christians\, and others can live together 
 in peace and justice through the power of nonviolent action.\n\nThe Berrig
 an-McAlister Award honors those whose acts of Christian nonviolence – li
 ke those practiced by Reverend Daniel Berrigan\, S.J. Philip Berrigan and 
 Elizabeth McAlister – resist injustice\, transform conflict\, foster rec
 onciliation\, and seek justice and peace for all.\n\nOrganized by the Depa
