Fighting Islamophobia & Anti-immigrant Policies Across America
Date(s) - 09/29/2018
6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
NEW YORK, NY
Lawmakers across the U.S. are passing Islamophobic and anti-immigrant legislation. How did we get here as a nation and what can we do to take action?
The Supreme Court’s 6/26 ruling on the Muslim travel ban, together with recent events, highlight the need for greater awareness and action. Organizations such as SD Voices for Justice are on the ground and in the courts in rural America, fighting to challenge and reverse these policies. The SD Voices for Justice team is nine-for-nine in defeating racist legislation in South Dakota, but so much more needs to be done.
Join us to learn about the mounting problems faced by Muslims and immigrants in America, to better understand the strategies and support the grassroots organizations tackling these issues, while sampling dishes from a diverse mix of Muslim and immigrant communities.
- Taneeza Islam – Founder and CEO, SD Voices for Justice
