TATREEZ SALON: Come celebrate the FIRST ANNUAL International Day of Tatreez and Palestinian Culture
Join us as we celebrate the FIRST ANNUAL International Day of Tatreez and Palestinian Culture! In our salon-style event, guests are invited to *bring a piece of their own tatreez* in order to share the stories behind them.
Susan Muaddi Darraj will speak about the origins and importance of the holiday, which is program of the Museum of the Palestinian People.
Wafa Ghnaim, founder of Tatreez & Tea, will share the importance of tatreez embroidery traditions in her family, and the vital role we all play in keeping this sacred, indigenous art alive in the Palestinian diaspora.
Bring your tatreez, bring your stories! We look forward to celebrating Palestinian heritage with you!
A small selection of books by the Susan and Wafa will be available for sale on-site.
All ages are welcome and encouraged to join this landmark celebration!
This event is co-hosted by the Museum of the Palestinian People, the only museum in Washington, DC solely dedicated to elevating the voices of Palestinian artists and storytellers. Donate and learn more at www.mpp-dc.org.
