Geography: Country Focus on Morocco
Date(s) - 08/25/2020 - 10/07/2020
10:00 am - 10:55 am
What will be taught? Students will dive into a quick overview of the language, culture, history, politics, and physical geography of Morocco. What topics will you cover? Personally, I taught social studies at an American school in Casablanca, Morocco, for three years. The above topics will be infused with personal experiences as I attempt to connect you to the country of Morocco. How is your class structured? Students will interact by asking and answering questions throughout the following portions of the class. This is a very interactive course. 10 minutes: Physical geography (You will study Morocco's physical geography as we use multiple map layers. This will set the scene for the other parts of the class.) 10 minutes: History (As a history teacher, this is my favorite part! You will learn a brief overview of Morocco's history, from ancient to the present.) 10 minutes: Language (You will learn the details about the many languages in Morocco, including some local Arabic phrases.) 10 minutes: Culture (You will learn about the mosaic of people who make up Morocco, including their beliefs, literature, food, and music.) 10 minutes: Politics (You will learn about the system of government in Morocco, including some of the pressing issues of today.) 5 minutes: Review! There will be a short review game at the end of the lesson.
