Healthy Relationships Pt 2: A Workshop w/ Sameera Qureshi
Date(s) - 04/15/2019
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
1816 12th St NW
WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
In 2018, the following terms could be heard in the news and on social media on a daily basis: #metoo, harassment, assault, domestic violence, and abuse. Given the lack of safe spaces within Muslim communities to talk about these concepts, many Muslims are seeking information and skills to prevent these issues from arising within their own relationships with family, friends, colleagues, spouses and potential spouses.
Join Sameera Qureshi, Director of Sexuality Education and Training with HEART (Health Education, Advocacy, Research and Training), for part two of her workshop. The foundation from part one in January focused on self-development and considerations when starting to communicate with someone. This workshop will focus on the following:
- Signs of unhealthy and abusive relationships
- #metoo and sexual violence: What does this entail?
- Community responsibility and the role of bystanders
- Responding with RAHMA
CenterDC will also be providing an update regarding their policies document and Safe(r) Space group
This workshop is open to all adults!
HEART Women & Girls is a national nonprofit that seeks to enhance the sexual health literacy of Muslim communities as a means to prevent sexual violence. This workshop open to all adults.
