HYBRID

The stories that sparked so many others …

The Annotated Arabian Nights, a new edition of the classic tales that have inspired authors from Charles Dickens to Angela Carter, is the next read in our In Pieces discussion series.  Member Joe Heyd will guide our discussions of these stories. Our conversations begin May 10.

These will be HYBRID discussions. People can join in-person on the 12th Story or virtually via Zoom. Registration required via the May 10 event listing.

About the book:
We will be reading The Annotated Arabian Nights: Tales from 1,001 Nights, edited by Paulo Lemos Horta and translated by Yasmine Seale. This is the first English translation by a woman, and it includes a forward from award-winning novelist Omar El Akkad.

About the In Pieces series:
Since 2016, we’ve been tackling big, intimidating books that are part of Western literary canon, the books that were once assigned in high school or college, books we might have skipped over because they were just too much. Together, we break them into manageable pieces, and focus on one book over three to four sessions.
