In his latest book, Inside the Arab State (Oxford University Press, 2018), Mehran Kamrava employs a multidisciplinary approach to examine a broad range of political, economic, and social variables behind some of the central questions concerning the nature of power and politics before and after 2011, when the Arab Spring began in the Arab world.

Inside the Arab State is described as “a major contribution to the study of Arab politics” by the Carnegie Endowment’s Frederic Wehrey, who also said the book “strikes a rare balance: theoretically rigorous yet accessible; panoramic but also rich in detail.” Juan Cole of the University of Michigan stated, “in this book [Kamrava] captures the big picture of the evolution of politics in the region, from postcolonial nationalism to the heartbreaking failures of the Arab Spring youth revolts.”
Please join us on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM for a conversation with Dr. Mehran Kamrava. Networking and book signing will follow the discussion; please bring your own copy.
