WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
Ramadan is celebrated by over a billion people around the world. During the month of Ramadan, Iftar is a time for family and friends to break fast together at sunset. In the spirit of this sacred month, people open their doors to strangers– it is a time for kindness, hospitality and strengthening bonds of friendship and solidarity.
In reflection of these values of connection, acceptance, and friendship, MALA invites you to join us for an interfaith Iftar, hosted in partnership with UNICEF. Regardless of your faith, religiosity, or cultural identity, we hope that you will join us for this special Iftar in Washington, DC.
Bring a friend, colleague, or a partner. Help us spread a message of hope and giving to create new and unique multicultural and interfaith encounters between Americans of all communities.
100% of all proceeds raised at this event will benefit UNICEF’s fund for humanitarian aid for the Rohingya refugees.
According to UNICEF, more than 730,000 Rohingya have been driven into Bangladesh (as of January 2019) and over half of them are children. UNICEF is delivering life-saving supplies and services for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
MALA and UNICEF remain committed to matters that affect the survival, protection, and development of children everywhere. Join us to share a meal and learn about the imperative work both organizations are doing, how YOU can become involved, and give back to those in most need.
