The Twisted Skein

Tunisian crochet is a fun, fresh craft that combines the ease and speed of traditional crochet with the softness and drape of knitting.

About this Event

Instructor: Ron Warren

Time and Date: Saturday, November 30th, 1pm-4pm.

This one day class will guide you on your first steps in this interesting craft. In one three-hour session you will learn all the basic stitches used in Tunisian crochet, some of which will feel very familiar to knitters and crocheters alike. Discover the many ways in which Tunisian Crochet is so much more than ‘the afghan stitch!’

By the end of class, you will have a list of Tunisian crochet projects you can take on with your new skills, as well as a head start on a set of felted coasters you will begin in class.

Prerequisites: While this class is open to anyone- even those with no knitting or crochet experience whatsoever- it is strongly recommended that students familiarize themselves with making a starting chain as in traditional crochet before the start of class. There are many excellent YouTube videos on this topic.

Materials: Your Instruction fee includes a special Tunisian Crochet hook, stitch markers, and handouts. Students will need to purchase one skein of Kelbourne Woolens Germantown in a light color prior to class. Germantown is available for $13.99 a skein on the day of class, but you will save $4.00 by purchasing your class and materials together ahead of time.

Students should also bring a selection of note taking supplies, scissors, and tapestry needles.
