Class Experience

Each of the fifteen sessions will focus on recognizing, writing, and pronouncing four new Arabic letters, while building on what has been learned in the previous classes. The alphabet will be taught didactically using pictures, songs, games, and lots of hands-on activities. The first lesson, for example, will focus on the letters alif, baa, taa, thaa, and the three short vowels and the students will practice reading and writing them together, while I demonstrate on the screen. One of the games that I like to use, for example, is “Simon says.” I also like to lead the children in song, using my guitar and my accordion. This adds an element of fun to the class. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to take a basic elementary Arabic course, which I also teach on Outschool. Here is the class breakdown: Class 1 – ʾalif, bāʾ, tāʾ, thāʾ, and the short vowels Class 2 – wāw, yāʾ, Tāʼ marbūṭah Class 3 – jīm, ḥāʾ, khāʾ Class 4 – dal, dhal Class 5 – raa, zayy Class 6 – sīn, shīn Class 7 – ṣād, ḍād Class 8 – ṭāʾ, ẓāʾ Class 9 – ʿayn, ghayn Class 10 – fāʾ, qāf Class 11 – mīm, nūn Class 12 – hāʾ, wāw hamzah, yāʾ hamzah Class 13 – Word building Class 14 – Word building Class 15 – Word building
