About this event
Lynne Stein is a textile artist, and originally trained as an exhibition and display designer, and as an art therapist. Lynne’s work has been widely exhibited and she has been featured in magazines and journals as well as on BBC radio and TV broadcasts.
In 2021 Lynne released her book, Shedding the Shackles: Women’s Empowerment through Craft by Herbert Press. The book offers a fascinating glimpse into women’s craft enterprises, Lynne tells the stories of twelve women’s craft initiatives, celebrating the artisanal experiences of women in craft and the positive impact these projects have on the route to breaking the poverty cycle and addressing gender inequality.
In this talk, Lynne Stein discusses Shedding the Shackles, sharing extracts from her book and a selection of objects featured within. Lynne also offers a look inside her own studio, exploring her tools, techniques and examples of her work.
