DESCRIPTION:\n\nOverview\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Maine Middle Eastern Orchestra pres
 ents a special program\, "The Music of the Sufis\," that explores the musi
 cal traditions of Sufism.\n\n\n\n\nThe Maine Middle Eastern Orchestra is h
 onored to present a special program exploring the musical traditions of Su
 fism. Our performance will feature a selection of Egyptian sacred dance mu
 sic\, devotional Sufi hymns\, and mystical folk melodies from Turkey. This
  is a unique opportunity to witness the power of this transcendental music
 \, arranged and performed in an orchestral setting. We welcome you to join
  us for an unforgettable evening at Meetinghouse Arts.\n\nMaine Middle Eas
 tern Orchestra was founded in 2018 by Eric LaPerna with the goal of preser
 ving and performing Arabic\, Turkish and Armenian music from the art\, cla
 ssical\, folk and Sufi traditions. This music was passed on to Eric and ot
 her members of the orchestra by master musicians\, Alan Shavarsh Bardezban
 ian\, Bassam Saba and Michel Merhej Baklouk.\n\nThe MMEO is made up of mus
 ic faculty members from Berklee\, Bowdoin\, Bates and Colby Colleges\, as 
 well as musicians from the world renowned National Arab Orchestra\, New Yo
 rk Arabic Orchestra\, DaPonte String Quartet\, Okbari Middle Eastern Ensem
 ble\, Seyir Duo and the Casco Bay Tummlers.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, Januar
 y 10\, 2026 @ 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $25 in advance\,
