About this Event
Middle Eastern dance icon Jajouka (Merrill Peress) joins hosts Morgiana Celeste Varricchio, Samara Adell, and Adriana Rosa as a special guest as “Mosaic: A World in Motion” makes a stop in Morocco. This ancient and diverse land of equally ancient and diverse cultures possesses a wealth of folkloric traditions in music and dance. “Morocco Dances” takes you on a mini-tour, of the country’s history and geography and of some of the many different dances — from the spiritual dances such as the guedra to the social dances such as the shikhatt. What better way for the sheltering-in-place traveller to satisfy the travel bug, than to become lost in magical Morocco. The program is packed with images, and as a special treat, will show Jajouka’s own indelible performance of the guedra, as choreographed by the legendary Ibrahim “Bobby” Farrah. Register today!
