About this Event
Live stream concert:
Join 4 musicians from Oxford Maqam for a special live stream Muwashahat based on their research of the 1932 Cairo Music Congress.
Renowned experts in the field of Egyptian music and song of the 19th and 20th centuries; the Oxford Maqam are innovators of classical Arabic music. Their recovery and revival of heritage works is a highly original process, and their concerts offer a rare opportunity to experience live renditions of a music steeped in Arab heritage.
Dr. Martin Stokes (Qanun), Dr Eric Samothrakis (Djembe), Mr Malachy O’Neill (Double bass) and Tarik Beshir (Oud and vocal)
This is a unique opportunity to hear music that has never been performed or recorded since 1932.
