Award-winning Palestinian-American Poet, Essayist & Educator, Naomi
Shihab Nye gives voice to her experience through poems about heritage
and peace that overflow with a humanitarian spirit. Naomi’s experience of both cultural
difference and different cultures has influenced much of her work.
Known for poetry that lends a fresh perspective to ordinary events, people
and experiences all become sacred.

Drawing on her Palestinian-American heritage, the cultural diversity of
her home in Texas, and her experiences traveling in Asia, Europe,
Canada, Mexico, and the Middle East, Naomi uses her writing to
attest to our shared humanity. This reflection time will take place in the Joan de Lourdes Room,
La Providencia. An opportunity to participate virtually will be provided as well.
