Finding meteoric TikTok fame upon joining the platform in 2020, Palestinian-born, Toronto-based artist Nemahsis has proved a multi-talented force both on stage and in front of the camera. Articulating the reality of discrimination against a backdrop of dreamy pop ballads, Nemahsis released her debut single, ‘What If I Took it Off For You?” in 2021. The track immediately kickstarted a vital conversation around the discrimination hijabi, POC women, and Muslims in general encounter globally. Across the internet, the song soundtracked videos of Muslim women discussing their own experiences of discrimination, their relationship with the hijab, and its empowering qualities.

Since, Nemahsis has gone from strength to strength as an activist-based singer/songwriter, releasing a follow-up single, ‘Paper Thin’ (October 2021), and debut epic ‘eleven archers’, featuring its lead single. ‘i’m not gonna kill you’. The highly anticipated release did not disappoint, amassing millions of streams since its March release. Encapsulating vulnerability and introspection, ‘eleven archers’ highlights pivotal moments in the artist’s life through thought-provoking lyrics, raw storytelling, and ethereal instrumentations.

With a steadily building body of work, distinct fashion sense, and unquestionable authenticity, it’s with great pleasure that MeanRed brings this empowering artist to Brooklyn’s Church of the Ascension on February 23, 2023, for the NYC stop of her global Miss Construed tour.
