About this Event
New York Times correspondent Anne Barnard sits down with three standout journalists—Zahra Hankir, Hwaida Saad, and Nada Bakri—to discuss the challenges and triumphs that come with reporting as a woman in the Arab world . Barnard, Hankir, Saad, and Bakri have together covered many of the most significant events in the region in the past two decades, from the invasion of Iraq, to the civil conflict in Syria, to the ongoing struggle for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. They are, each of them, through the very practice of their profession, shattering stereotypes and bringing sunlight to previously unexplored areas of the Arab world, areas to which their gender gives them unique access.
