 Sinan Antoon.\n\n\nHuda J. Fakhreddine is a writer\, translator\, and Ass
 ociate Professor of Arabic Literature at the University of Pennsylvania. S
 he is the author of Metapoesis in the Arabic Tradition (Brill\, 2015) an
 d The Arabic Prose Poem: Poetic Theory and Practice (Edinburgh Universit
 y Press\, 2021)\, and the co-editor of The Routledge Handbook of Arabic P
 oetry (Routledge\, 2023). Among her translations are Lighthouse for the D
 rowning (BOA editions\, 2017)\, The Universe\, All at Once: Selections f
 rom Salim Barakat (Seagull Books\, 2024)\, and Palestinian: Four Poems b
 y Ibrahim Nasrallah (World Poetry Books\, 2024). Her creative writings in
 clude a book of creative non-fiction titled Zaman saghīr taḥt shams th
 āniya [A Brief Time under a Different Sun]\, (Dar al-Nahda\, 2019) and t
 he forthcoming Wa min thamma al-ālam [And then the World!]\, (Manshūr
 āt Marfa’\, 2025). She is co-editor of Middle Eastern Literatures and
  BSME\, Brill Studies in Middle Eastern Literatures series.\n\n\nSinan Ant
 oon is an Iraqi poet\, novelist\, translator\, and scholar. He holds degr
 ees from Baghdad and Harvard\, where he earned a doctorate in Arabic liter
 ature. He has published two collections of poetry and five novels in Arabi
 c. His most recent self-translations include a selection of poems: Postca
 rds from the Underworld (Seagull Books\, 2023) and his fifth novel\, Of 
 Loss and Lavender\, (forthcoming from The Other Press in 2026). His transl
 ation of his second novel\, The Corpse Washer\, won the 2013 Arab America
 n Book Prize. Antoon’s translations from the Arabic include Mahmoud Darw
 ish’s In the Presence of Absence\, which won the 2012 American Literary
  Translators Association Award. His essays and op-eds in English have appe
 ared in The New York Times\, The Guardian\, The Nation\, and Journal o
 f Arabic Literature\, among others. His scholarly works include The Poeti
 cs of the Obscene: Ibn al-Hajjaj and Sukhf (Palgrave-Macmillan\, 2014) an
 d a forthcoming monograph on the Iraqi poet\, Sargon Boulus.\n\n\nEvents i
