SAN DIEGO, CA- Join the House of Palestine for a Palestinian concert with moving cultural songs, tantalizing traditional Palestinian food, and high energy folkloric dance (dabkeh) during a ribbon cutting celebrating the construction of the physical House of Palestine cottage, which is set to open in March 2020. The organization will also hold its annual general assembly election on Sunday, November 10 at 3 P.M. in the Balboa Park Club Santa Fe Room.
With the help of generous donations, this year is projected to put an end to a decade-long practice of packing and unpacking treasured artifacts on only a few occasions per year. Going forward, the organization will showcase its proud culture and heritage in a permanent structure to display honored traditions on a continuous basis, in perpetuity.
The House of Palestine is a cultural organization connecting people together to share the traditions, culture and history of Palestine. For more than ten years, volunteers have been seeking approval from various governmental agencies for the grant of land for the construction of the House of Palestine cottage. Several committed HOP members have volunteered countless hours as part of a steering committee of nine cottages, all of which seek to begin construction simultaneously in 2019. This year has been remarkable in the realization of the dream of a physical House of Palestine, with approvals from important agencies including the Balboa Park Committee, the Historical Board, the City Parks and Recreation Department, as well as the City Planning Commission. Design drawings have been completed and the project can be executed as soon as the organization’s fundraising goal is achieved, but help is needed to reach that goal.
Thus far, the House of Palestine has been able to raise $350,000 in donations for construction of the cottage. The construction project cost is projected at approximately $628,000 plus, meaning that donations of at least $278,000 are needed to bridge the construction gap. The organization is humbly asking for the public’s assistance to reach its dream goal to realize the construction of the HOUSE OF PALESTINE. The ultimate goal is to see the Palestinian flag flying over America’s Finest City in San Diego at Balboa Park. The house of Palestine is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization and public donations will make a huge difference in completing construction.
