Come join us for two weekends of Palestinian Cultural Experience!
The first weekend will be for young people and the young-at-heart, which will include ancient boardgames, crafts event in which we will be making beautiful copper pins of local wildlife, and a puppet show.
For the second weekend, we will have an interview with the artist Bashar Alhroub in which we will talk about the collaborative project worked on by Portland artists which include the story of the Tower of Babel.
Palestinian author Hashem Sayed will be discussing his work from his new book.
We will also be screening the following short films:
“Either Me or Haifa” by Anan Barakat . A young couple faces the separation of both literal and psychological walls living in Gaza. Filmmaker Anan Baraket will be speaking with us about the making of the film live via Zoom.
“Love Recipe” by Mustafa Owda. A tale of how love survives even in the greatest of difficulties. Writer and Actor Mustafa Owda will be discussing with us the motivations into the creation of his film live via Zoom.
“Haadhir” by Mohamed Sahal. A powerful piece that subtly champions the resilience of youth and bravely embracing reality while constantly reminded of the horrors of war. Writer and Director Mohamed Sahal will join us live via Zoom to talk with us about his film.
And finally don’t miss the amazing cooking show where hummus will be made before your eyes, a staple of Middle Eastern cuisine that is not as simple to make as may people may think. Join our chef in our culinary adventure!
