The Department of Music is pleased to present the Penn Arab Music Ensemble under the direction of Hanna Khuri and percussion director Hafez Kotain.

PROGRAM
– Hamilul Hawa Ta’ibu (Weary is one burdened with passion), poem by Abu Nawas set to music by Lebanese composers Assi and Mansur Rahbani, known as Brothers Rahbani
– Nassam A’alayna al-Hawa, Blowing Breeze
– Bektub Ismik Ya Bladi (I will write your name my homeland), song by Lebanese composer Elie Shweiri
– A’ally al-Kufieh, (Raise the Kufieh), Mohammad Assaf

This event is free and open to the public.

ABOUT
Open to all students in the Penn community as well as to members of the greater Philadelphia community, this ensemble explores a wide range of Arab music and provides students with the opportunity to learn through coachings provided by several professional performers of Arab music. The Arab Music Ensemble participates in performances hosted and organized by Penn Music and members have the opportunity to perform at functions and events around Penn’s campus.
