The Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies will host a special virtual performance / discussion with Omar Offendum & Thanks Joey, two award-winning Arab-American Hip-Hop artists. They will present samples from their new album “Lost In Translation” as well as a preview of their “Little Syria” project, which recounts the experiences of the first Levantine immigrants to NYC through music, poetry & storytelling.
Omar Offendum is a Syrian-American hip-hop artist, designer, poet and peace activist. He tours the world performing internationally at music festivals, lecturing at major academic institutions and fundraising for humanitarian relief organizations. He will perform part of his latest creative work Little Syria, and discuss his music and activism. More information and register in advance.
This event is part of a series of webinars with award-winning and diaspora-bending artists, writers, poets, and musicians held in conjunction with Turath, a path-breaking virtual exhibit that maps the rich mosaic of early Arab American culture through music, literature, poetry, art, performance, and journalism.
