We Have Rights: Defending & Empowering Immigrant Communities in 2018
Date(s) - 06/20/2018
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Made in NY Media Center by IFP
The lives and rights of immigrants are currently under siege in America. Raids and arrests by Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) are terrorizing communities and tearing families apart. We Have Rights, a series of powerful animated short films, was created to empower these communities to safely defend themselves and exercise their rights during encounters with ICE, while exposing the practices of immigration authorities to a broader audience.
Join Brooklyn Defender Services (BDS) & the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) for an up-close look into the work being done to defend and empower immigrant communities in 2018. The evening will feature a screening of the We Have Rightsseries, and a conversation led by Gaby del Valle, a journalist focusing on the human impact of immigration enforcement.Reception and interactive experience to follow in the Independent Filmmaker Project’s Media Arts Gallery.
