Ramadan Open House + Interfeast Dinner
Date(s) - 05/23/2019
7:15 pm - 10:15 pm
499 Hickory Grove Rd
The month of Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection where Muslims fast from dawn to dusk and spend time in prayer. Traditionally, the daily fast is broken with an “Iftaar” meal shared with family and others in the community. Now that Ramadan is underway, the Elmira-Corning local Muslim community is offering a special opportunity for other faith communities to experience this important part of their religious practice.
The Islamic Association of the Finger Lakes cordially invites you to our annual open house and special Interfaith Ramadan Iftaar. Aside from the shared halal dinner meal, there will be words of wisdom delivered by the interfaith leaders followed by Q & A session so that visitors will learn more about Ramadan and Islam. There will also be a chance to observe or participate in our ritual evening prayers (@ 8:40 PM) for those who will be interested. The only request in this case is to dress modestly so that arms and legs are not revealing, and shoes will have to be taken off when going onto the prayer area.
