SUHOOR FESTIVAL MISSION STATEMENT

Founded in 2018, the Ramadan Suhoor Festival serves as a landmark annual event centered around the observance of the suhoor tradition of the holy month of Ramadan. The ethos of the Suhoor Festivalis Anchored in three pillars of the Islamic tradition:

Unity: By honoring rites and traditions of the holy of Ramadan that are shared among all Muslims, such as Quran recitation, alms-giving, and observing the fast, the Suhoor Festival strives to promote intra-faith fellowship and camaraderie, strengthening the bonds of ukhuwwahor brother/sisterhood within the Muslim community.

Community: The Suhoor Festival functions as a family-friendly space for communal gathering, reinforcing the Quranic principle of khilafah—that God vested us, individually and collectively, with the responsibility to act as stewards of the earth, including stewardship of our families and community.

Charity: Islam is a religious tradition rooted in charity, not only as a means of helping the poor, but as a sacred act of self-purification, where the act of giving of oneself is not merely a secular humanist gesture, but rather, a realization of the sacred principle where, by virtue of Divine origin, thy neighbor as thyself. Accordingly, the Ramadan Suhoor Festival is committed to honoring the sacred tradition of charity and almsgiving during the month of Ramadan.
