 ning of conversation in New Orleans with our 4th Amistad-Rivers Research R
 esident Alia Farid and the curator and writer Amal Khalaf.\n\nOn Tuesday\,
  August 29th\, Farid and Khalaf will discuss the reverberations between Fa
 rid's work in the marshlands of Iraq and her recent discovery of the wetla
 nds of southeastern Louisiana.\n\nWe hope you will join us to learn more a
 bout Farid and Khalaf's practices\, our partnership with Amistad Research 
 Center\, and the art that collaboration makes possible.\n\nLocation:\n\nTh
 e Albert &amp\; Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design\n\n1725 Baronne
  Street\, New Orleans\, LA 70117\n\nDoors open at 6pm\, the conversation w
 ill begin promptly at 6:15pm. A short reception will follow.\n\nSeating is

 e link and arrive early to secure your seats.\n\nAlia Farid (b. 1985\, Kuw
 ait City\; lives and works in Kuwait City and San Juan\, Puerto Rico) rece
 ived a BFA from la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico (San Juan)\,
  an MS in Visual Studies from MIT (Cambridge\, MA)\, and an MA in Museum S
 tudies and Critical Theory from the Program d'Estudis Independents\, Barce
 lona Museum of Contemporary Art (Barcelona\, Spain). She has presented sol
 o exhibition at Portikus (Frankfurt) and Kunstinstituut Melly (Rotterdam).
  Recent group shows include participation in the 32rd Bienal de Sao Paulo\
 , the 12th Gwangju Biennale\, Sharjah Biennial 14\, the 2nd Lahore Biennal
 e\, Theater of Operations: The Gulf Wars 1991-2001 at MoMA PS1\, and the 2
 022 Whitney Biennial: Quiet as It's Kept. She is the 2023 recipient of the
  Hene Onstad Kunstsenter's Lise Wilhelmsen Art Award.\n\nAmal Khalaf is a 
 curator\, artist\, and is currently Director of Programs at Cubitt\, Londo
 n\, and Projects Curator-at-Large at the Serpentine Galleries\, London. Sh
 e has commissioned and developed residencies\, exhibitions\, workshops\, a
 nd collaborative research projects that address the role of art operating 
 within pedagogy and social urgencies. She is a founding member of artist c
 ollective GCC\, Consortium Commissions Curator for Mophradat\, and a trust
 ee for not/no.w.here\, and on the artistic committee for Arts Catalyst. In
  2016 she co-directed the 10th edition of the Global Art Forum\, Art Dubai
 . Amal's artistic work has been presented at Goldsmiths College (London)\,
  the Venice BIennale 2019 (Italy)\, MoMA PS1 (NY)\, The New Museum (NY)\, 
 Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art (Doha)\, Musée D'Art Moderne (Paris)\, 
 and the Sharjah Art Foundation (Sharjah).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
