This teacher workshop seeks to provide educators and academics with unique resources to facilitate the integration of social and economic history of the Indian Ocean into curriculum and classrooms.
Presentations will be given by Dr. Susan Douglass, Georgetown University; Dr. Fahad Bishara, University of Virginia; and Dr. Harrison Guthorn, Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center. The session features the Indian Ocean in World History online educational resource and the newly launched An Ocean of Paper online database containing thousands of digitized, cataloged, and indexed waraqas (Omani deeds) from the nineteenth century. This workshop is geared towards grades 9-16, but all are welcome.
Lunch will be provided.
