ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
⦠Salwa Zeidan is a Lebanese-born, AbuDhabi based Artists and Gallery Director.
As a self-taught artist, Zeidan dedicated herself to learning art history through research and lectures at the Lebanese American University of Beirut. She also immersed herself into the world of art further through books and visits to hundreds of museums, art exhibitions, art fairs, and biennales around the world. Zeidan works in a variety of media; mixed media painting, sculpture, installation. Her journey helped her to develop her own technique that earned her numerous awards, accolades and recognition from the art scene, including the first prize of young Lebanese artists 1998 and the 4th place at the Florence Biennale in 2003.
Zeidan began exhibiting her works in 1989. Since then, she held dozens of solo shows and participated in more than 48 group exhibitions, Biennales, and art fairs around the world. Today, her paintings can be found in private and public collections and art foundations, in Switzerland, USA, Canada, Italy, France, London, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Lebanon, amongst others.
Salwa Zeidan also runs her own gallery Zeidan Art Gallery in Abu Dhabi, which represents both well-established and emerging artists in particular from the Middle-East and Emirati area, many of which have been successfully auctioned and sold at auction houses such as Christieās and Sothebyās.Ā The gallery has participated in international art fairs as Abu Dhabi art fair and Frieze London.

⦠Janet Rady ā is a specialist in Contemporary Art from the Middle East based between London and the United Arab Emirates. She has +30 yearsā experience of the International Art Market including Leading Auction Houses and Major Commercial Galleries.
Born in Malta, Janet first visited the Middle East in 1974 when she went to Iran and where she subsequently lived from 1983-84. She now travels regularly to the region.
Janet holds a Masters Degree in Islamic Art History from the University of Melbourne and a BA from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She is a member of the Arab British Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Advisory Council of CARAVAN. Janet also sits on the Council of the Iran Society, and is a nominator for the V&A Jameel Prize.
She is a curator for the Benetton Foundation Imago Mundi Project for the UAE and Bahrein catalog, and a Judge for the Khor Online Art Initiative.
Janet has guest curated exhibitions for the peacebuilding NGO CARAVAN Arts including the I AM touring exhibition of 31 women artists from the Middle East and an exhibition of 38 Premier Bahraini, Egyptian and Lebanese artists entitled āKHALIL GIBRAN: A Guide for our Timesā at Sothebyās London. She has also edited the book ā33 Artists⦠33 Islands⦠A Kingdom of Artā ā a comprehensive survey of the artists of Bahrain.
She recently joined Chiswick Auctions as a specialist in Modern and Contemporary Middle East and North African art, and co-written āTranscending Conflictā the collection of HE John Rakolta and Mrs Terry Rakolta, the former American Ambassador to the UAE.
