SAMS, a nonpolitical, nonreligious, NGO that works on the front lines of crisis providing medical and humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable individuals inside Syria, neighboring countries, and beyond. In 2018 alone, SAMS conducted 20 missions to the region, treating more than 27,000 patients.
SAMS has responded to local natural disasters in the United States by deploying a team of medical mission volunteers to Houston, Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
In April 2018, actress and activist Amber Heard joined SAMS on a medical mission to Jordan, Al-Zaatari Refugee Camp. After her visit, Amber stated: “I was incredibly moved by the work SAMS is doing on the ground in Jordan & elsewhere to bring relief to those in need. I felt humbled by the countless doctors, medical staff, volunteers, everyone volunteering their life, time, and energy to helping. This experience left an indelible mark on my soul.” – Amber Heard, SAMS Goodwill Ambassador, Actress & Activist
