NEW HAVEN, CT
Join Sanctuary Kitchen for our first traditional Syrian Brunch! Enjoy a delicious brunch spread prepared by Syrian chef, Abir, at the historic Chetstone House, a beatifully restored Victorian Gothic manor in Fair Haven Heights. In this elegant and intimate setting, guests and Syrian refugees will gather together to break bread – come share stories, develop cultural understanding, form connections and build community.
Abir resettled in New Haven in 2016 from Daraa, Syria with her family. Before coming to the US, Abir was in Jordan for 4 years, where she volunteered for the International Rescue Committee, and often cooked for their doctors and nurses. She is passionate about cooking, which she learned as a young child from her mother, and enjoys sharing traditional Syrian cuisine. Come learn about her culinary background and inspirations, and gain insight into her experience as a refugee in New Haven. Trained facilitators will be present to assist the party.
All proceeds are used to compensate the chefs and support Sanctaury Kitchen programs. By attending a Sanctuary Kitchen event, you’re helping refugees and immigrants receive training, support, income and opportunities to share their skills in meaningful ways
