SUMMARY:The Gaza Mono-Logues
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\nThe Gaza Mono-Logues\nIn-person at AANM\nFree with RSV
P\n\nA Host of People and the Arab American National Museum will be parti
cipating in a global artistic solidarity call to present “The Gaza Mono-
Logues”.\n\nASHTAR Theatre\, due to the horrific war taking place in Gaz
a\, is launching an urgent request to all its friends and theater makers a
round the world to publicly read or perform The Gaza Monologues on Novembe
r 29th\, 2023\; The  International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People – a significant day for those who value justice\, equality\, and
freedom for the Palestinian people.\n\nThe Gaza Monologues are testimonie
s written by ASHTAR youth in 2010\, after the first war on the Gaza Strip.
Tragically\, these Monologues are still accurate today. They are highligh
ting the horrors\, hopes and resilience of the courageous Gazans to a wide
r audience\, bringing out the voices of children and people in Gaza.\n\nTh
is event is free with RSVP. We encourage you to make a donation to support
the work of ASHTAR Theatre. You can support their psycho-social program i
n the West Bank: Global Giving.\n\nAbout The Gaza Mono-Logues\n“The Gaz
 a Mono-Logues” – A global artistic solidarity call\nThirty-three youn
g people from Gaza believed in 2010\, that they have a voice other than th
e cries of fear and the moans of frustration. A voice that can rise higher
than the drones of war and the planes that bombarded them day and night.
A voice that says: “Enough!!! We deserve a world better than this\, a wo
rld without fear\, siege or occupation.”\n\nASHTAR changed the script\,
replaced the events\, and converted the tragic epic to a theatre of action
\, a theatre built on interaction for the sake of change\, arising from ou
r belief that freeing the land begins by freeing the mind.\n\nSince Octobe
r 2010 to date\, more than 2000 youth from around the Globe in more than 8
0 cities in 40 countries have presented the monologues that are translated
and presented into 18 languages.\n\nPeople from around the World became m
ore aware and in solidarity with of our just cause. Despite that\, Gaza is
still under siege – since 2006\, and the occupation is more brutal than
ever\; attacking civilians\, destroying the land and hindering the life o
f the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip.\n\n“I dream of having ONE day of sa
fety\, I’m sure the world is too busy to remember our situation\; six ye
ars had passed since we wrote our monologues and we are still under siege.
Whenever we smell a solution in the air\, it is destroyed before it reach
es the ground\; this breaks our hearts and destroys our morale and takes u
s to point zero over and over again. When can we live in peace like the re
st of the World?”  Mahmud Abu Sha’ban – 2014\n\n“The Gaza Mono-Lo
gues” will continue to be the voice of the unheard until justice prevail
 s.\n\n-Iman Aoun\nArtistic Director\, ASHTAR Theatre
