 tory\, join Nasr and Barbara Leaf\, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Sta
 te and Ambassador to the UAE\, for a special conversation moderated by Nag
 hmeh Sohrabi about how Washington and Tehran understand—and misunderstan
 d—each other\, and where U.S.–Iran relations might go next. Vali Nasr 
 is the Majid Khadduri Professor of International Affairs and Middle East S
 tudies at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International St
 udies (SAIS). Barbara A. Leaf is a senior international policy advisor for
  Arnold &amp\; Porter\, and former U.S. assistant secretary of state for N
 ear Eastern affairs and U.S. ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. Naghm
 eh Sohrabi is the Charles (Corky) Goodman Professor of Middle East History
